Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a valuable member of our clinical staff, you will provide exceptional patient care and contribute to our mission of delivering high-quality healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver clinical services to patients of all ages, including infants, children, and adults, with a focus on swallowing and communication disorders.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans to address patient needs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care coordination and patient outcomes.
  • Perform videofluoroscopic swallow studies and fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in speech-language pathology to provide evidence-based care.
Requirements
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • NYS License in Speech Pathology and ASHA CCC-SLP Certification.
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in an acute care medical center, with a focus on inpatient and outpatient dysphagia and communication services.
  • Proficiency in performing clinical swallow and communication evaluations and treatment, as well as videofluoroscopic swallow studies and flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing.
  • Independence in assessing tracheostomized patients for swallowing and speaking valve candidacy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of recent experience in an acute care medical center.
  • Experience in the NICU performing feeding evaluations and treatment.
  • Proficiency in providing feeding services for high-risk infants, pediatric aversion, and behavioral feeding impairments.
