SUMMARY

The Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) in the Neuro/Trauma Unit is responsible for overseeing the treatment of patients facing serious health challenges, including acute neurological events, respiratory complications, and multi-system failures. This role involves executing advanced nursing practices aligned with the standards of the Critical Care Unit, which encompasses adherence to ACLS/PALS protocols, dysrhythmia evaluation and management, as well as preoperative and postoperative care. The RN will also manage airway and ventilator support, monitor hemodynamic status, administer vasoactive medications, and provide care for patients with neurological devices and post-transplant needs.

The Staff RN plays a crucial role in prioritizing patient care by conducting thorough assessments, engaging in collaborative care planning, and delivering or delegating appropriate interventions while evaluating patient responses and progress towards clinical objectives. This position contributes to a productive work environment through effective communication, documentation, and mentoring of peers.

The Staff RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and other support personnel in delivering patient care in accordance with regulatory standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Involving family members or significant others in the patient's care process as appropriate.
  • Documenting patient care activities in compliance with organizational policies.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive care.
  • Facilitating patient transitions to subsequent levels of care.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development and learning opportunities relevant to the role.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska or a compact state as per the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act is required. Candidates must provide proof of relevant certifications and/or training as mandated by state or federal regulations. Basic Life Support (CPR) certification is mandatory. Experience in critical care settings is preferred.
