Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Medical Office Assistant to join our team at UNC Health. As a key member of our administrative staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional support to our medical office assistants and clinical office assistants, ensuring the smooth operation of our office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies and procedures, ensuring a high level of quality and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Coordinate check-in and check-out procedures, process financial information, and perform other administrative duties as assigned.
  • Provide direct supervision and support to administrative office assistants and clinical office assistants, ensuring they have the necessary resources and training to excel in their roles.
  • Accurately perform patient check-in and check-out procedures, process privileged patient information, and respond to billing questions.
  • Maintain adequate clinical supplies, office supplies, and equipment, and coordinate resolution of equipment repair and facility management issues.
  • Provide relief staffing, support, and training to other administrative medical office assistants and clinical medical office assistants.
  • Maintain compliance with established safety and regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA, OSHA, and infection prevention policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate leadership in customer service skills when interacting with patients, families, and visitors, and exhibit effective communication skills and teamwork.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • One year of experience in a physician office required; prefer candidates who have completed an accredited medical assisting program.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively before groups.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to enter and process data accurately, and apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
