Our expertise lies in producing rotating closed-die forgings, which are essential for aerospace and land-based gas turbines, alongside structural forgings for various applications including nuclear, petrochemical, power generation, and space.

Role Overview:

The Metallurgist is responsible for conducting thorough evaluations of diverse aerospace materials. These assessments will utilize advanced optical microscopy and computerized image analysis techniques to ensure compliance with the specifications set forth by prime contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

To excel in this role, the individual must effectively perform the following duties:
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct and all established safety protocols.
  • Ensure safe working practices, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Conduct metallographic examinations of aerospace materials such as Titanium, Steel, Aluminum, and Nickel alloys following established guidelines.
  • Utilize Optical Microscopy for detailed evaluations of microstructures.
  • Employ both foundry techniques and specialized software to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Analyze various metal characteristics, including grain size, structure, and defects in accordance with client specifications.
  • Perform micro-examinations and grain size mapping as per customer requirements.
  • Interpret complex aerospace material specifications accurately.
  • Maintain proficiency in metallurgy concerning all test specimens within the laboratory.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications:

The following qualifications are essential for success in this position:
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret safety rules and operational instructions.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated, capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Commitment to compliance with all company and regulatory standards.
Educational Background & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Material Science, Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
  • A Master's degree in Material Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Metallurgist is required.
  • Experience with NADCAP and ISO 17025 standards is advantageous.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours is necessary.
Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this role include:
  • Regular use of hands for handling materials, reaching, and communication.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and sitting throughout the workday.
  • Occasional lifting or moving of items up to 35 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
