ROLE OF THE PERSONAL CARE ATTENDANT PROGRAM TRAINER

The Skills Development Trainer within our Personal Care Attendant (PCA) program is responsible for delivering guidance, resources, and assistance to empower consumers in self-managing their care and PCA services within the community. This position operates in Hampshire, Hampden, and Berkshire Counties and is a full-time (35 hr/wk) hybrid role.

  • Candidates residing within the service area are preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Minimum of one year of experience providing services to individuals with disabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
  • Computer literacy is a must.
  • Ability to visit consumers in their homes and availability to work during emergencies outside regular hours.
  • Capability to learn the regulations and procedures of the Mass Health Personal Care Attendant program.
  • Ability to educate individuals with disabilities and their caregivers about program responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of disability issues, employment law, and community resources is beneficial.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Conduct in-person and telephonic orientations and training sessions with consumers and their representatives to clarify program procedures and regulations.
  2. Maintain accurate and up-to-date consumer records, including entries in electronic databases.
  3. Respond to inquiries from individuals interested in applying for PCA services or modifying existing services.
  4. Manage monthly assigned tasks to meet deadlines and ensure timely completion of skills training requests.
  5. Coordinate with staff, per diem, and contracted Skills Trainers and RNs to schedule assessments and clinical evaluations.
  6. Consult with RNs and Skills Training Supervisors regarding consumer issues and participate in interdisciplinary meetings and projects.
  7. Engage in staff meetings and training sessions.
  8. Utilize a personal cell phone and data plan when working remotely or in the field, and download company-approved applications and software on personal devices as needed.
  9. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors or management.
