Job Summary:
The University of Oklahoma is seeking a highly skilled Senior Applications Developer to join our team. As a key member of our defense supply chain software engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative software solutions using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) tools. Your expertise will be instrumental in realizing our vision of establishing a Center of Excellence in Defense Supply Chain at OU-Norman campus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide application support, including system/batch monitoring and processing, handling user questions and queries, investigating and solving system problems, and providing on-call services to support systems.
- Perform business analysis to gather customer business requirements and work as a member of the technical team to apply software or system upgrades.
- Perform unit and system testing when needed and maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices, trends, and applications.
- Conduct innovative software development and research enhanced by AI/ML with a strategic emphasis on defense-related supply chain risk management and predictive analytics.
- Architect the solution frameworks for new supply chain projects and lead software development teams to implement, test, and validate the solutions.
- Develop and implement advanced algorithms and models to address challenges in the defense sector and establish and nurture partnerships with federal agencies and industry partners to enhance collaboration and research initiatives in supply chain resilience and security.
- Actively engage in networking activities to foster relationships with industry leaders and government agencies and supervise students working on projects.
- Perform various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and 48 months experience in application and software development and/or custom solutions.
- Knowledge of software design and programming principles, programming for diverse operating systems and platforms using development tools, and ability to program in at least one programming language.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, work independently and as a team member, and provide customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong initiative to solve problems and attention to detail and a demonstrated acumen for problem-solving skills and judgment.
- Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information and effectively communicate with diverse groups of faculty, staff, and outside stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Computer Science or related field and experience working with DoD or other federal agencies.
- Experience managing a team of developers and 48 months of research specialty experience.
- Experience with Python, JAVA, PHP, C/ C++, SQL, JavaScript or related tools and ability to work with sensitive and confidential information.
