Cybersecurity Research Internship Opportunity

We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic interns to join our team at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) for a cybersecurity research internship. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research projects in cybersecurity, collaborating with world-class professionals to solve complex challenges vital to national security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in cybersecurity, focusing on advanced cryptographic techniques, cyber backfit solutions, mission systems adversarial emulation, and tactical edge cyber.
  • Develop and implement solutions to address capability gaps in current platforms and prototype new solutions in teams from various STEM-related perspectives.
  • Work alongside experienced professionals to analyze potential cyber vulnerabilities in systems and understand their mission impact.
  • Collaborate with industry, academia, and government partners to study, design, develop, implement, and test cyber capabilities applied to air, space, afloat, ground, and undersea platforms and systems.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related fields.
  • Skilled in and/or have knowledge in at least one of the following programming languages: Python, Rust, VHDL, Verilog, C, C++, Java, MATLAB, or another popular programming language.
  • Have an educational background or specialization interest in at least one of the following categories: advanced cryptographic techniques, cyber backfit solutions, mission systems adversarial emulation, or tactical edge cyber.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Be able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top-Secret level clearance.
