About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cameo Modeler to join our team at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our digital engineering team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing model-based systems engineering (MBSE) capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cultivate the digital engineering capabilities of junior staff through training, quality checks, and mentorship.
  • Identify and deploy methods, processes, and guidelines for developing MBSE as part of the capabilities development process.
  • Participate on teams working to advance the capabilities of essential national systems, analyzing and assessing existing MBSE capabilities and identifying gaps and needs.
  • Deliver presentations to sponsors and working groups to effectively communicate proposed concepts, solutions, and analysis findings.
  • Collaborate with engineers and scientists in a diverse team environment to develop digital engineering products.
  • Apply MBSE to drive requirements development from operational capabilities/needs to describe system performance, resilience, cybersecurity, and other characteristics.
  • Help define MBSE design review requirements and update our current systems engineering process to apply sophisticated MBSE techniques.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a related field.
  • At least ten years of relevant systems engineering experience.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and practices.
  • Significant knowledge of systems modeling techniques and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering languages like SysML or other industry-specific languages.
  • Proficiency in using MBSE tools and software, such as Cameo Systems Modeler or IBM Engineering Systems Rational Rhapsody.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions, especially in system architecture and integration.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, outstanding oral and written communication skills, and good organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead, work independently, and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness and ability to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in MBSE, tools, and industry standard methodologies.
  • Ability to obtain an Interim Top Secret level security clearance by start date and ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree (or higher) in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a related field.
  • At least fifteen years of relevant systems engineering experience.
  • Experience in Air Force and/or Navy platforms and systems in NC3.
  • Competence in using software tools for analysis, simulation, and validation, such as MATLAB/Simulink or other domain-specific software.
  • Strong analytical skills for requirements analysis, risk assessment, and performance analysis of systems.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance.
