Job Overview:
The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of all facilities and grounds, fostering a safe and conducive environment for educational activities.

Immediate Supervisor:
Assistant Head and/or Head Custodian

Salary:
Compensation is based on relevant experience as per the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Work Environment:

This position involves working indoors within school facilities, outdoors in various weather conditions, and occasionally on elevated surfaces. Interaction with students, staff, and the public is a regular part of the job.



Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED is required. Candidates should possess basic math skills and effective communication abilities, both verbal and written. Experience in custodial work, floor care, or general maintenance is preferred. Participation in mandatory training sessions is required.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must be able to stand or walk for extended periods, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, balance, climb, and have the ability to lift or move items weighing up to 50 lbs. Work may also involve heights up to 35 feet.



Essential Duties:
  1. Cleaning and Maintenance:
    Perform floor care tasks including vacuuming, buffing, and carpet maintenance. Ensure restrooms are clean and trash is disposed of properly. Maintain an organized custodial closet and cart, and submit maintenance requests as needed.
  2. Security:
    Responsible for securing and opening facilities as required. Monitor and report any suspicious activities on the premises.
  3. Grounds Maintenance:
    Efficiently manage lawn care, including mowing and weeding. Regularly pick up litter and maintain outdoor trash receptacles. Remove snow and ice as necessary.
  4. Supplies and Equipment:
    Ensure proper use and maintenance of custodial equipment, reporting any repair needs promptly.
  5. Energy Management:
    Assist in managing energy conservation efforts within the building, including scheduled shutdowns and compliance with conservation settings.

Compliance and Safety:
Adhere to all relevant safety regulations and participate in mandatory training programs. Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.

General Expectations:
  1. Demonstrate efficiency by completing daily inspections and tasks in a timely manner.
  2. Maintain positive communication with staff, students, and the community.
  3. Exhibit integrity and confidentiality in all interactions.
  4. Ensure satisfactory attendance and punctuality.
  5. Exercise sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  6. Effectively prioritize and coordinate work assignments.
