About the Role

Parkland Health and Hospital System (PHHS) is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Patient Access Center Representative. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless patient access to our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients in obtaining access to care through appointment scheduling, referral processing, and insurance coverage updates.
  • Perform registration functions, gathering data elements to verify patient identification, demographics, and third-party funding payors.
  • Verify patient information and update patient demographics as needed.
  • Maintain awareness of specialty clinic pre-clinical acceptance guidelines and scheduling instructions.
  • Ensure accurate and clear documentation in patient medical records.
  • Utilize clinical recall/wait list in accordance with clinic procedures.
  • Identify and update patient funding information, communicate financial responsibility, and complete benefit verification as required.
  • Respond to and resolve routine inquiries, complaints, and concerns through inbound requests.
  • Identify emergent health situations and activate the appropriate response team in accordance with department procedures.
  • Maximize personal flexibility to assist in closing scheduling gaps as needed.
  • Stay abreast of personal performance results and maintain acceptable productivity and quality standards.
  • Participate in team building and morale booster activities.
  • Report safety concerns and policy concerns to leadership or via defined reporting tools.
  • Complete job-required training by assigned due dates.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three years of customer service experience, preferably in a medical or healthcare setting.
  • One year of referral management and/or insurance plan identification experience preferred.
  • Medical Terminology Course Certificate preferred.
  • Ability to type 20 words per minute with a maximum of 3 errors.
  • Ability to successfully pass Customer Service and Spelling tests with a minimum score of 80%.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
