Overview

We are in search of qualified physician candidates for intermittent roles, specifically .14 for international positions and .32 for candidates based in the United States.

Preferred candidates are those residing in the United States, Singapore, UAE, and Saudi Arabia.

The role involves conducting assessments of international health care organizations as assigned. Utilizing systems analysis and inductive reasoning skills, the physician will evaluate the organization's adherence to relevant standards and the effectiveness of care delivery systems. Engaging with the staff of health care organizations, the physician will participate in discussions regarding standards compliance and identify areas for enhancement. The position requires the preparation of exit reports that correlate measurable deficiencies with potential systemic vulnerabilities and associated organizational risks. Effective communication of these findings to health care leadership in a constructive manner is essential. Participation in additional Joint Commission International activities may also be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of international organizations eligible for accreditation/certification, either on-site or remotely. Review and assess pre-survey information and execute all necessary pre-survey tasks. Select patient records based on the evaluation of the client application.
  • Analyze care delivery systems and assess compliance with operational standards by evaluating patient care environments and interviewing staff and patients.
  • Examine various documents, including policies, procedures, clinical standards, and patient records, to evaluate compliance with Joint Commission International standards and the quality of care.
  • Engage in all required on-site and/or remote survey activities, documenting observations accurately using survey technology, and participating in discussions to integrate findings.
  • Provide thorough rationales for each documented finding and connect observations to potential systemic vulnerabilities and opportunities for improvement.
  • Report survey findings in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to JCI Scoring Guidelines.
  • Prepare and present exit reports to the organization, interpreting standards in a professional and sensitive manner.
  • Consult with organization leaders on significant health care issues during interactive evaluation sessions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Joint Commission International standards and relevant laws and practices.
  • Participate in evaluating the performance of the survey team post-survey.
  • Adhere to safety policies while on-site, including any requested safety measures.
  • Engage in all required staff development activities and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Accepted qualifications for surveyors with a clinical background include: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), or equivalent.

Certification/Licensure:

  • Current professional licensure in relevant disciplines is required at the time of hire.
  • Physicians must be Board Eligible or Board Certified at the time of hire.
  • No history of disciplinary actions related to professional licenses.

Experience:

  • Five years of recent experience, including three years of direct clinical experience and two years in senior management roles.
  • Contemporary knowledge of health care operations and performance improvement methods.
  • Familiarity with Joint Commission International standards and involvement in at least two domestic or international surveys.
  • Experience in an international health care setting is preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct interviews and elicit information effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in using technology for documentation and communication.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry 25-50 pounds and travel extensively.
  • Capability to work in various environments, including exposure to potential hazards.

Availability:

  • Willingness to travel to all countries where Joint Commission International operates.
  • Participation in corporate orientation and ongoing education activities is required.
  • Must be able to meet intermittent availability requirements.
