Position Summary

Spire is in search of a Senior Gas Scheduler to join our team. This role is pivotal in orchestrating the receipt and distribution of gas among suppliers, markets, pipelines, and storage operators, ensuring accurate tracking and monitoring of company volumes for precise billing and invoicing. The position requires close collaboration with trading personnel and accounting to relay pertinent information promptly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain comprehensive records of gas supply acquisitions, transportation, and sales for various customers to efficiently manage gas supply and sales portfolios.
  • Daily scheduling of interstate and intrastate pipeline and end-user volumes, aiming to minimize imbalances and scheduling fees.
  • Engage with counterparty gas scheduling representatives to exchange essential scheduling information for daily and monthly transactions.
  • Review and summarize pipeline contracts to facilitate timely access to primary and discounted secondary receipt and delivery points.
  • Ensure accurate accounting of all scheduled and allocated volumes for verification by the Gas Accountant before month-end closing.
  • Monitor pipeline bulletin boards for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to prevent disruptions in firm transportation contracts.
  • Address after-hours and weekend nomination issues by monitoring communications and coordinating with gas supply buyers and third parties as necessary.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of contractual obligations, pipeline rates, tariff regulations, and operational conditions.
  • Oversee physical transactions within the internal gas management system and confirm third-party documentation.
  • Update and manage all transport-related data, including discounts, commitments, fuels, and rates.
  • Track storage injections, withdrawals, and imbalances.
  • Approach all activities with a commercial mindset and a collaborative focus alongside physical traders.
  • Guide efforts to maximize utilization across all transport contracts.
  • Collaborate with trading personnel to minimize imbalances and reduce cash-out volatility.
  • Provide mentorship and training to less experienced team members.
  • Assist other internal departments to ensure timely and accurate management of deals.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field is required.
Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Natural Gas Scheduling or a related field is required.
