Position Scope:


The Maintenance Supervisor for the 3rd shift is responsible for overseeing the installation, upkeep, and repair of all machinery and equipment within the facility, as well as managing any maintenance or repairs related to the building or property.

This role involves supervising hourly maintenance staff in a safe, effective, and efficient manner, ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and all relevant regulations.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and prioritize maintenance requests, ensuring necessary materials are readily available.
  • Monitor work orders to guarantee adherence to job specifications and timelines.
  • Manage and review inventory levels of spare parts, equipment, and materials.
  • Develop manpower schedules and manage vacation requests.
  • Conduct inspections of facility areas to ensure compliance with safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Participate in daily production meetings and provide valuable input.
  • Research materials and methods to enhance production efficiency.
  • Focus on error prevention, ergonomic practices, and cost-saving measures.
  • Engage with external contractors when internal resources are insufficient.
  • Lead the implementation of new equipment for upcoming programs alongside preventative maintenance efforts.
  • Be available for on-call duties 24/7, including weekends.
  • Prepare overtime equalization sheets, manage overtime requests, and oversee payroll time sheets.
  • Ensure compliance with supervisory expectations and guidelines set by the organization.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform necessary maintenance tasks.
  • Coordinate regular preventative maintenance for daily equipment and facilities.
  • Utilize various hand and power tools, electrical meters, and material handling equipment effectively.
  • Identify faulty operations and defective materials, reporting issues to the appropriate supervision.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and maintain organized work areas.
  • Oversee all aspects of building maintenance for new constructions, renovations, or updates.
  • Coordinate and supervise contractor activities for various projects.
  • Update project information and maintain comprehensive project files.
  • Organize drawings and prepare packages to support project activities.
  • Assist department management, project managers, and consultants as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records in company systems and department databases.
  • Set priorities for preventative maintenance work orders and scheduled tasks.
  • Ensure adequate supplies and equipment are available for the maintenance department.
  • Manage requisitions for maintenance work through the purchasing department.
  • Attend necessary meetings and collaborate with external agencies as required.
  • Complete all required reports and documentation related to the department.
  • Drive company vehicles as necessary.
  • Coordinate painting and decorating tasks for both interior and exterior surfaces.
  • Follow departmental procedures for preventative maintenance and quality improvement.
  • Organize minor construction tasks such as wall dismantling and erecting, finish carpentry, and concrete pouring.
  • Maintain an inventory of new equipment, manuals, and warranties.
  • Utilize computerized preventative maintenance programs effectively.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain various electrical components and equipment in accordance with relevant codes.
  • Schedule preventative maintenance checks for all electrical alarms.
  • Oversee the installation and repair of plumbing fixtures and related equipment.
  • Manage mechanical and preventative maintenance tasks as outlined in the maintenance manual.
  • Initiate safety concerns and make informed decisions regarding task completion methods.
  • Oversee snow removal and ice safety measures.
  • Manage landscaping and the overall aesthetic of the company property.
  • Accountable for short-term planning and keeping relevant authorities informed of decisions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications:
  • Community College education in a related field.
  • Five years of experience in a mechanical or electrical capacity as a tradesman or equivalent experience.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for detailed instruction comprehension.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Organizational skills to maintain maintenance schedules and files in a dynamic environment.
  • Proactive in seeking downtime reduction initiatives.
  • Demonstrated initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership qualities.
  • Thorough understanding of contract administration and office procedures.
  • Capability to perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Knowledge of compliance regulations at local, provincial, and federal levels.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management and project management abilities.
  • Strong judgment and reasoning skills.
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
  • Experience in exercising cost control measures.

Work Conditions:
  • Availability for 24/7 work may be necessary.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Travel to various sites may be required.
  • Safety equipment, such as steel-toed boots and safety glasses, will be necessary.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Exposure to trade-related hazards.
  • Work will be conducted both indoors and outdoors.
  • Exposure to construction environments is expected.
