Position Overview

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is tasked with delivering nursing interventions and educational support aimed at maximizing patient comfort and enhancing the quality of life for patients and their families. This role requires flexibility to work both day and night shifts.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current LPN licensure in Florida or a temporary Florida permit with licensure from another state.
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare professionals.
  • At least one year of nursing experience in an inpatient, hospice, or home health environment.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance in accordance with company policy.
  • Reliable transportation to meet patient visit schedules.
  • Completion of a 30-hour Infusion Therapy Course and an 8-hour in-house Infusion Class is preferred.
  • Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate patient needs.
  • Capable of using equipment that requires visual and auditory skills.
  • Competent in managing the emotional challenges of caring for terminally ill patients and their families.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions, including lifting patients and equipment, bending, and kneeling, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing tasks to patients and families under RN direction, including Continuous Care, dressing changes, and catheter changes as outlined in the care plan developed by the Interdisciplinary Group (IDG).
  • Demonstrate clinical skills in accordance with company policies and procedures, including medication administration and symptom management.
  • Monitor patients for changes in body systems, pain, and symptoms, reporting findings to the RN.
  • Observe and report adverse reactions and responses to treatments to the RN.
  • Communicate findings to physicians and advanced practice registered nurses following collaboration with the RN.
  • Perform venipuncture for blood specimen collection.
  • Conduct site observations and inspections for Central Venous Lines (CVL), including dressing changes and flushing venous access devices.
  • Document all actions per policy and procedure in the medical record.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to see, hear, talk, walk, and use hands for various tasks. Frequent standing, sitting, reaching, bending, and balancing are required, along with occasional lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, kneeling, and climbing stairs.
