Electrical Systems Technician (Data Center Operations) - Atlanta, GA

Electrical Systems Technicians are tasked with instrumentation and control for our power distribution systems at Data Center facilities. Responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to, configuring communication devices and industrial network topologies, uploading HMI/PLC software, installing input/output modules and CPUs, integrating third-party Energy Management Systems (EPMS), and conducting initial testing, operation, troubleshooting, and modifications of client equipment and systems, including medium and low voltage switchgear, transformers, metering, power monitoring, power quality, and protective relays.

This role includes a preliminary training phase that will require travel.

Your contributions will include:

  • Leading the installation and verification of electrical and electronic components for systems and service agreements, focusing on maintenance and testing of switchgear, motor controls, circuit breakers, panel boards, transformers, and surge protection devices. Responsible for vibration analysis, battery maintenance, power monitoring, and protective relay upkeep.
  • Configuring communication devices and industrial network topologies; uploading HMI/PLC software; installing input/output modules and CPUs.
  • Executing integration of third-party EPMS; conducting initial testing, operation, troubleshooting, and modifications of client systems.
  • Testing medium or low voltage circuit breakers and analyzing test results for metal-clad/vacuum switchgear and low voltage equipment.
  • Performing Equipment Condition Assessments.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing electrical control circuits.
  • Organizing and maintaining job documentation.
  • Providing on-site support for programming, start-up, verification, commissioning, and validation processes. Participating in job site final inspections, completing all necessary documentation, and offering customer training. Acting as a technical resource for clients and field personnel.
  • Instructing client personnel on proper operation and routine inspections, training them to maintain and adjust complex equipment, and providing expert advice and technical assistance to support staff and train junior employees. Completing and submitting reports on all job activities and maintaining complex tools and test equipment.
  • Planning and estimating labor categories, rates, material costs, and transportation expenses for complex proposals. Reviewing intricate task plans, drawings, and installation schematics, while providing ongoing guidance throughout project execution.
  • Being available for emergency and relief assignments as needed.

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

Basic qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical control circuits, with the ability to obtain thermography certification.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the installation and/or maintenance of Power Automation Switchboards.
  • 5+ years of experience utilizing electrical test sets for AC and DC high potential testing, transformer turns ratio testing, and other power system testing practices.
  • Proficiency in interpreting protective coordination studies and testing/configuring protective relays.
  • Ability to read bills of material, electrical schematics, and power system study reports.
  • Experience with the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of low and medium voltage power distribution systems.
  • Familiarity with the arc flash and shock hazards associated with high voltage systems and Siemens switchgear.
  • Knowledge of ANSI, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and NETA codes and standards.
  • Physical capability to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license with minimal violations.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Associate Degree.
  • Certifications such as AVO, NETA, and NICET.
