Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C. as a part-time Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer.

Responsibilities
  • Perform all ultrasound procedures according to department protocols and established guidelines.
  • Conduct fetal exams, including 1st trimester ultrasound exams, nuchal translucency measurements, 2nd trimester detailed anatomic surveys, and 3rd trimester ultrasound exams.
  • Assist perinatologists in performing invasive procedures, such as chorionic villus sampling, amniocentesis, amnio-reduction, and amnioinfusion.
  • Collaborate with direct supervisors to ensure adequate Sonographer coverage, including potential on-call availability.
  • Perform portable examinations, requiring movement of ultrasound equipment to various patient locations.
  • Monitor and respond to emergency situations in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Interview patients for history pertaining to ultrasound exams.
  • Verify accuracy of ultrasound requisitions by checking physician orders in patient medical records or prescriptions.
  • Work in accordance with hospital and department policies regarding documentation of ultrasound exams and billing for services.
  • Participate in continuing education and demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of an approved curriculum in diagnostic ultrasound.
  • Registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in OB/GYN.
  • NB/NT certification.
  • CPR certification.
