DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan is recognized as one of the largest hospitals specializing in rehabilitation medicine and research in the nation. The Institute is renowned for its clinical proficiency in various areas including spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke recovery, amputee care, orthopedics, and comprehensive injury management. The facility also operates multiple outpatient locations throughout southeast Michigan, emphasizing sports medicine and orthopedic care.

Key Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the Physical Therapy Supervisor, the Rehabilitation Specialist will:
1. Administer standard physical therapy techniques such as heat, cold, electrical stimulation, traction, ultrasound, and exercise.
2. Assess patients' motor and neurological functions and maintain accurate documentation of findings.
3. Develop and implement rehabilitation exercise programs, guiding patients in the use of therapeutic equipment including braces, splints, and mobility aids.
4. Conduct and interpret various assessments to evaluate patients' capabilities.
5. Document treatment plans, initial evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with departmental protocols.
6. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to discuss patient progress and treatment strategies.
7. Supervise and mentor physical therapy assistants, aides, students, and volunteers as needed.
8. Ensure the upkeep of equipment and supplies in designated treatment areas and recommend necessary purchases.
9. Engage in continuous professional development through workshops, lectures, and departmental meetings to stay updated on treatment methodologies.

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy or equivalent certification from an accredited program.
2. Valid license to practice as a Physical Therapist in the State of Michigan.
