Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Financial Access Specialist to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. This individual will serve as the liaison between referring physicians and patients, managing appointment, procedure, and surgery scheduling across multiple departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Throughput: Ensure all required information is obtained from referring physicians and providers in clinical areas and provided to third-party payers to ensure reimbursement for services delivered within the outpatient setting.
  • Surgery Scheduling: Coordinate and support tasks related to patient surgical scheduling, including gathering booking sheets and consents from clinics and providing CPT codes and documents surgical procedures prior to scheduling.
  • Resource Management/Quality Assurance (QA): Collaborate with supervisors and managers to provide support in other outpatient service departments and maintain high productivity standards.
  • Customer Service: Provide service excellence as outlined in the Health System Standards of Professional Behavior, ensuring a positive patient experience by acknowledging and receiving patients and visitors to the department.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
  • Experience: Two to three years' work experience in a customer service environment, preferably in a hospital or physician office with high call volumes and low abandonment rates.
  • Skills: Self-directed, well-organized, and team-oriented, with the ability to educate and advocate for patients and their families. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with a wide variety of individuals, including clinical staff.
