Overview

UnityPoint Health is seeking a skilled Nocturnist Physician to join our team in Des Moines, IA. As a Hospitalist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Our clinical teams are dedicated to improving outcomes, reducing hospital readmissions, and lowering avoidable costs associated with treating chronic conditions. We prioritize excellence and quality patient care, putting patients at the center of our care to provide the best level of health and well-being.

The Nocturnist Physician will work 17 shifts every six weeks, with flexibility in how many shifts are worked concurrently. Shifts are 7p-7a, with most shifts worked at Iowa Methodist and Iowa Lutheran Hospitals, and occasional shifts at Methodist West.

We offer a cohesive group of colleagues and supportive staff, allowing for autonomy and flexibility. Our experienced staff, both clinical and non-clinical, know the patients and the community, and we have a fully integrated system with clinics and hospitals on EPIC EMR to improve care coordination.

Responsibilities

The Nocturnist Physician will be responsible for:

  • Telehospitalist service providing cross coverage
  • Evaluating, interpreting, and coordinating information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care
  • Providing patient-focused, friendly, and willing to collaborate in a team environment
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical, and problem-solving skills
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • MD or DO degree
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine
  • Ability to obtain and hold an unrestricted license to practice in the state of Iowa
  • Hold current and unrestricted state and federal authority to prescribe and administer medications as necessary or appropriate to the physician's field of practice
  • Eligible to work in the United States (H1-B cap exempt)
