The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides essential nursing and healthcare services to individuals in accordance with the organization's policies and the standards set forth by the state's Nurse Practice Act. This role includes training for both clients and Open Arms Care Corporation employees, as well as conducting pre-employment screenings for TB skin tests and Hepatitis B vaccinations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Deliver training to all employees and clients.
- Assess emergency situations for clients, determining appropriate actions and follow-up.
- Accountable for all scheduled and controlled substances as per organizational policy and state regulations.
- Maintain the security and cleanliness of all medication storage areas.
- Document and report all vital signs and clinical observations.
- Administer treatments and medications as prescribed, assisting physicians as necessary.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide guidance to fellow LPNs.
- Notify the Health Services Director and on-call physician of any medical incidents as per agency policy.
- Accurately transcribe physician orders.
- Ensure adequate drug and pharmaceutical supplies are maintained.
- Follow facility, pharmacy, and state procedures for ordering and receiving medications.
- Document all medical and nursing care provided.
- Ensure client safety at all times.
- Support direct care employees in delivering high-quality care to clients.
- Engage in the development of Individual Support Plans (ISP) through participation in Interdisciplinary Team Meetings and assessment reviews.
- Complete programs for desensitization for dental/medical appointments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- Must possess a current and valid Tennessee license issued by the State Board of Nursing. A valid driver's license is also required.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong organizational and time management abilities, are essential.
- This role requires accountability, adaptability to individual needs, teamwork, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to lift repetitively a minimum of 50 pounds; tasks may include lifting, repositioning, turning, bending, and squatting.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to physically assist and interact with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Ability to check adaptive equipment to ensure it is in working order.
