Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cafeteria Assistant Manager to join our team at Jefferson County Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our cafeteria, ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality, and providing exceptional customer service to our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of cafeteria staff, including food preparation, serving, and cleaning.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, including food safety certification and health certifications.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to improve cafeteria operations, including menu planning, inventory management, and staff training.
  • Collaborate with school administrators and other stakeholders to achieve school goals and objectives.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and parents, responding to their needs and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manage cafeteria budgets, including ordering supplies, managing inventory, and controlling costs.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in food service management, including new technologies and best practices.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Child Nutrition Program guidelines and regulations.
  • Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
  • Ability to use technology as required to perform job responsibilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to assist in the supervision and development of assigned personnel according to school system procedures.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership, organization, collaboration, and planning skills to accomplish school goals and job requirements.
  • Ability to possess and maintain food safety certification provided by the Jefferson County Health Department and/or the National Restaurant Association.
  • Possess and maintain required health certifications including tuberculin skin test results.
  • Strength, stamina, agility, dexterity, and acuity to perform job responsibilities safely and effectively.
  • Ability, agility and stamina to engage in prolonged standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, turning, reaching, and repetitive lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, or holidays when necessary.
  • Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
  • Such alternative qualifications to those listed as the Board may require.
