Operations Manager-Transportation Division Job Description

Casella Construction, Inc. is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our Transportation Division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of our fleet and drivers, while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Transportation Division and provide direct and organizational level leadership
  • Develop, implement, and review operational policies and procedures
  • Maintain operational compliance and promote a company culture that encourages top performance, high morale, and integrity
  • Build consensus and relationships among managers, partners, and employees to drive change for the better
  • Communicate all operating policies and/or issues at department meetings
  • Recruit, select, train, assign, schedule, coach, counsel, and discipline employees
  • Communicate job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations

Requirements:

  • Leadership and team development experience
  • Emotional intelligence and conflict resolution skills
  • Customer management and communication skills
  • Quick, sharp, confident, assertive, ethical, and ambitious
  • Professionally and technically competent with thorough knowledge of the trucking industry
  • MSHA Certificate and OSHA 30-hour Certificate preferred
  • Class A CDL or the ability to obtain one
  • 5+ years experience with a Class A CDL and leading drivers preferred
  • Financial management and budgeting experience
  • Compliance and regulatory requirements FMCSA & DOT
  • Project planning and management experience
  • Analytical skills with the ability to examine issues from multiple viewpoints
  • Strong computer and communication skills
  • Self-starting, highly motivated, and goal-oriented
  • Organized with a systematic approach to tasks to achieve accuracy and efficiency
