Nurse Residency Specialist Job Summary

The Nurse Residency Specialist is a key role within SSM Health, responsible for creating a supportive learning environment for new graduate nurses to develop their skills and progress in their careers. This position serves as a coach and mentor to assigned nurse residents, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement nurse residency programs at the system and ministry levels.
  • Collaborate with preceptors and nurse leaders to ensure the smooth transition of nurse residents into the professional practice role.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to preceptors and assigned nurse residents, promoting a culture of mutual respect and trust.
  • Work closely with clinical educators to ensure that nurse residents receive comprehensive training and support.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to select and evaluate preceptors.
  • Apply evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge to nursing practice, ensuring that care is delivered based on patient needs.
  • Adhere to the SSM Health professional practice model and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing.
  • Three years' registered nurse experience.
Work Environment:

The Nurse Residency Specialist will work in a fast-paced healthcare environment, requiring the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities. The position will involve frequent standing, walking, and lifting, as well as the use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far.
