You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and function as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to facilitate plasma center operations.

Role Responsibilities:

Each day, the individuals you assist will drive your motivation. The high-quality plasma you collect will be integral to life-saving treatments. A commitment to customer satisfaction and operational excellence is essential. You will assess donor eligibility for plasma donation, manage donor adverse reactions, analyze laboratory test outcomes, and inform donors of any unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) operates under the direction of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager as applicable) for operational matters and under the supervision of the Center Physician for medical concerns. Familiarity with the regulations governing the plasma collection sector or a manufacturing environment is required. The Medical Support Specialist adheres to directives from Takeda Medical Affairs and provides center-level support for environmental, health, and safety (EHS) protocols.

Key Contributions:

You will evaluate donor eligibility, which includes managing informed consent, educating on AIDS, ensuring confidentiality, conducting medical history interviews, performing physical assessments, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE) results. You will assess donor reactions occurring at the facility in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs). Follow established SOPs for medical emergencies, including the implementation of the Center Physician's standing orders and coordinating donor transport to emergency medical facilities. You will consult with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when addressing unacceptable findings with donors or seeking guidance on medical or technical matters, including donor safety and eligibility. You will support vaccination initiatives for Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu for employees as applicable. You will oversee employee incidents and determine if further evaluation is necessary by occupational health or emergency response. Refer to EHS guidelines regarding employee incidents. You may serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist in investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent, including completion of a recognized educational nursing program that meets state requirements. Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN. Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED. Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy. Successfully complete the FDA-approved training requirements for Takeda Medical Support Specialist. Minimum of two years of experience in a clinical or hospital environment.
