You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and serve as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to enhance plasma center operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Your daily interactions with donors will be motivating. The valuable plasma you collect will lead to impactful medical solutions. A strong commitment to customer satisfaction and quality is essential. You will assess donor eligibility for plasma donation, manage donor reactions, review laboratory results, and inform donors of any unsuitable test outcomes. The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) operates under the direction of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager as applicable) for operational guidance and under the supervision of the Center Physician for medical matters. Familiarity with the regulations governing the plasma collection sector or a manufacturing setting is expected. The Medical Support Specialist adheres to directives from Takeda Medical Affairs and provides center-level support for environmental, health, and safety (EHS) protocols.

Contributions to the Role:

You will evaluate donor eligibility, which includes managing informed consent, education on AIDS, confidential self-exclusion, conducting medical history interviews, physical assessments, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE) results. You will assess donor reactions occurring at the facility as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Adhere to relevant SOPs for medical emergencies, including the development of standing orders from the Center Physician and facilitating donor transport to emergency care facilities. You will consult with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when needing to communicate unacceptable findings to donors or seeking guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility. You will assist with the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination initiatives for employees as necessary. You will manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation is needed by occupational health or emergency services. Refer to EHS guidelines regarding employee incidents. You may serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent, including completion of a recognized educational nursing program meeting state requirements. Current licensure or certification in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN. Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification. Fulfillment of state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy. Successful completion of the FDA-approved training requirements for Takeda Medical Support Specialist. Minimum of two years of experience in a clinical or hospital environment.
