Trailer and Equipment Repair Specialist

Job Summary:

U-Haul is seeking a skilled Trailer and Equipment Repair Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of quality and efficiency in the repair and maintenance of our trailers and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on trailers and equipment, including tire and brake maintenance, and rebuilding and repairing braking systems and trailer components.
  • Secure trailers on lifts and dollies, and occasionally road-test vehicles to ensure they are safe and operational.
  • Work on a production line, using proprietary electronic pre-inspection and repair checklist to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Team Members are expected to willingly lend assistance in additional areas as necessary, following the directives and guidance of their supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and 1-2 years of repair experience preferred.
  • Driver's license.
  • The ability to work as part of a team as well as individually.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Regular attendance.

Work Environment:

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, fumes, or chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields.

Physical Demands:

The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods both indoors and outdoors while remaining stationary, traversing spaces, repositioning to reach and use tools, and moving a minimum of 50 lbs. assisted or unassisted.
