About the Position

The County of Orange is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Law Enforcement Officer - Community Services to join our team. As a Community Services Officer, you will play a critical role in providing support to our law enforcement agency, ensuring the safety and well-being of our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide front desk support, including answering phone calls, responding to emails, and assisting with general inquiries.
  • Perform equipment room duties, such as checking in and checking out equipment, generating reports, and maintaining inventory.
  • Supervise a work crew responsible for cleaning and manual labor projects within the substation.
  • Conduct traffic accident reports, coordinate the disposal of abandoned vehicles, and issue citations for parking violations and other infractions.
  • Work a variety of rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements
  • One year of experience in law enforcement or a related field.
  • Ability to develop rapport and obtain cooperation from crime victims, witnesses, and informants.
  • Ability to prepare clear and accurate reports.
  • Ability to safely operate a marked police vehicle in all weather and traffic conditions.
  • Valid California Driver License, Class C or higher.
Working Conditions

Incumbents will be working in a fast-paced environment, interacting with the public, and performing a variety of tasks that require attention to detail and strong communication skills.

Selection Process

The selection process will consist of a Structured Oral Panel Interview, where candidates will be rated on their qualifications and experience. Only the most successful candidates will be placed on the eligible list.
