The Patient Advocate plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and professionalism of the front desk. Key responsibilities include delivering exceptional customer service while managing appointment scheduling, responding to multi-line phone calls and emails, and appropriately directing patients and inquiries. The Patient Advocate collaborates closely with the front desk team and other departments to maintain a high standard of patient care.

Working Hours: 7am - 4pm (with potential for earlier starts, shift concludes upon task completion). On-call rotation during weekends and holidays is required.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Responding to phone inquiries and directing calls or assisting patients as necessary, ensuring a seamless flow of information between the laboratory, onsite medical staff, and other personnel while upholding patient privacy standards.
  • Coordinating and confirming patient appointments, follow-ups, and physician referrals.
  • Managing incoming calls and routing them to the appropriate personnel.
  • Welcoming visitors, determining the purpose of their visit, and guiding them to the right staff member.
  • Documenting and maintaining medical records, reports, and correspondence.
  • Conducting patient interviews to complete insurance and privacy documentation.
  • Executing additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in an administrative medical office setting is required.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems is strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) skills are preferred.
