Job Summary:

The Referral Coordinator is a vital member of the Rancho Health MSO team, responsible for ensuring seamless patient referrals and authorizations. This role requires exceptional coordination and communication skills to facilitate efficient and timely referrals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and communicate with insurance companies to ensure accurate information.
  • Transfer and upload relevant information from electronic medical records to other applications with precision.
  • Establish effective communication with specialists, labs, and imaging providers to obtain necessary information.
  • Attach relevant documentation to authorizations with attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, support staff, and administration to ensure smooth referral processes.
  • Process daily task lists for HMO and PPO insurances with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Communicate with patients regarding referrals, approvals, and any necessary information.
  • Coordinate with Independent Physician Associates (IPAs) to facilitate referrals.
  • Order necessary testing and send tasks to relevant staff members.
  • Send medical records to offices and authorized patients as needed.
  • Assist with scheduling patient appointments with outside providers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to denied referrals.
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 1 year of experience in a medical office or hospital setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Successful completion of a medical front office program or on-the-job training with a focus on customer service.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding systems.
Essential Skills:
  • Bilingual in Spanish (preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of frequently ordered diagnostic testing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of organizational principles and practices, including planning, records management, and general administration.
  • Dependability, adaptability, and confidentiality are essential attributes.
  • Ability to work with clinical staff and handle direction from multiple providers.
  • Effective communication with IPAs, PPO insurances, providers, and staff.
  • Ability to order tests for patients.
