Key Responsibilities:- Verify patient insurance eligibility and communicate with insurance companies to ensure accurate information.
- Transfer and upload relevant information from electronic medical records to other applications with precision.
- Establish effective communication with specialists, labs, and imaging providers to obtain necessary information.
- Attach relevant documentation to authorizations with attention to detail.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, support staff, and administration to ensure smooth referral processes.
- Process daily task lists for HMO and PPO insurances with accuracy and efficiency.
- Communicate with patients regarding referrals, approvals, and any necessary information.
- Coordinate with Independent Physician Associates (IPAs) to facilitate referrals.
- Order necessary testing and send tasks to relevant staff members.
- Send medical records to offices and authorized patients as needed.
- Assist with scheduling patient appointments with outside providers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to denied referrals.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- 1 year of experience in a medical office or hospital setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Successful completion of a medical front office program or on-the-job training with a focus on customer service.
- Experience with Microsoft Office software.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding systems.
- Bilingual in Spanish (preferred).
- Basic knowledge of frequently ordered diagnostic testing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of organizational principles and practices, including planning, records management, and general administration.
- Dependability, adaptability, and confidentiality are essential attributes.
- Ability to work with clinical staff and handle direction from multiple providers.
- Effective communication with IPAs, PPO insurances, providers, and staff.
- Ability to order tests for patients.
- Customer service skills.
- Politeness, confidence, tact, patience, and diplomacy in dealing with complex and confidential situations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain a professional and courteous relationship with all members.
- Compassion and care for patients in their time of need.
