Mathematics Education Specialist

Job Summary:

The Mathematics Support Specialist will provide individual and group tutoring, classroom instruction, and in-classroom support to students. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to teach mathematics courses as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support, training, and instruction to students through one-on-one interaction, group tutoring, and classroom presentations
  • Work with colleagues to monitor and evaluate student progress and make recommendations
  • Keep accurate records of student participation in tutoring activities
  • Assist with monitoring day-to-day activities in the math lab and assist students with lab technology
  • Administer surveys for assessment feedback and provide monthly reports to the supervisor
  • Guide and direct part-time lab staff and student assistants
  • Provide training and support to part-time tutors and assist with scheduling
  • Instruct mathematics courses as needed or assigned
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records in compliance with FERPA

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Maintain all standards in accordance with college policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of mathematics and instructional techniques
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot equipment
  • Ability to teach effectively and assess student learning

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics or a related field from an accredited institution
  • One year of teaching or tutoring experience
  • Master's degree preferred
