Radiologic Technologist

EmergeOrtho is a leader in innovative, quality-focused comprehensive musculoskeletal care. As a Radiologic Technologist, you will provide professional patient care under physician supervision. Your primary responsibility will be to critique and perform quality diagnostic imaging in an orthopedic setting. You will complete all examinations, documentation, and accurately identify all charges associated with studies.
Qualifications and Experience
- High school degree or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic technologist training program
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologist registration
- Licensure and/or certification as required by the State of North Carolina
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform procedures including body mechanics and patient movement
- Knowledge of safety hazards and contraindications for patients and all visitors within the facility
- Current CPR Certification
- Ability to communicate clearly
- Excellent documentation skills
Responsibilities
- Obtain and document patient medical history including the reason for the visit and any other pertinent information related to treatment prior to physician exam
- Position radiographic equipment at the correct angle and height over the appropriate area of a patient's body
- Adjust controls on the x-ray machine to produce radiographs of the appropriate density, detail, and contrast of the body part
- Perform all diagnostic x-rays as indicated by physician and APP
- Prepare medical record information, including x-ray films for physician review before physician exam
- Maintain compliance with infection control policies and procedures
- Perform patient education when appropriate including oral and written education related to diagnosis, procedures, and/or medications
- Replenish supplies—clean exam room after each patient per infection control guidelines and stock exam room at end of each day
- Communicate supply shortages as well as other clinical needs to Clinical Manager or designee
- Ensure that laboratory and other diagnostic test results are obtained and communicated to physicians to ensure appropriate and timely physician intervention. All pending results are obtained prior to the patient's next clinic visit
- Ensure all documentation and charges associated with studies accurately reflect the patient encounter and plan of care
Other Responsibilities
- Follow all applicable department and practice policies and procedures
- Maintain patient confidentiality; comply with HIPAA privacy and confidentiality guidelines established by the practice
- Maintain detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job functions
- Computer input of patient information
- Participate in mandatory staff functions as directed by the Clinical manager (may include overtime)
- Perform other duties as required and assigned by Manager, including schedule changes and travel to office locations as assigned
- Maintain a pleasant and cooperative demeanor while performing all duties
- Maintain compliance with continuing education requirements to maintain current certifications, licensure, etc.
This position will be included in a mandatory backup rotation for urgent care coverage on Monday-Friday, Saturdays, and Sundays. Additional compensation will be paid at an on-call hourly rate.
