Job Description

Performance Contracting is seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our summer internship program. As a construction management intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the specialty construction industry and develop a solid foundation in construction management.

Throughout the summer program, you will be paired with a dedicated mentor who will guide you through the Performance Contracting Intern Activities Checklist. This checklist serves as a structured framework, offering you exposure to various disciplines within the branch's business. As you complete tasks, you will be expected to submit Weekly Project Recaps, providing detailed descriptions of your activities, the individuals you collaborated with, and the key takeaways from each task.

Some examples of tasks to be completed on the Intern Activities Checklist include:

  • Developing detailed proposals
  • Preparing bid analysis and review
  • Understanding and demonstrating project scheduling
  • Attending pre-bid walk-throughs
  • Learning the management process of project labor control, material handling, and job-cost analysis
  • Learning how to effectively manage subcontractors, materials, and equipment
  • Working directly with owners, construction managers, architects, engineers, and contractors
  • Assisting in preparation of quantity take-offs
  • Maintaining accurate and timely project documentation and correspondence
  • Understanding preparation of a financial job cost analysis
  • Learning the administration of the corporate safety program to ensure job site safety
  • Understanding specialized equipment utilization
  • Tracking and costing value material handling

Performance Contracting provides a competitive hourly wage, relocation reimbursement, and corporate housing option for all interns. Upon completion of the internship, each intern will receive an evaluation, which will be considered for future employment opportunities with the company.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student seeking a Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or comparable degree
  • Must have reliable transportation

Preferred Requirements

  • Demonstrated baseline construction knowledge acquired through relevant work experience or completion of a second-year construction management/engineering curriculum
  • Basic knowledge of BlueBeam, AutoCAD, and/or OnScreen Takeoff is a plus
