Job Title: Patient Care Technician I

UTMB Health is seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician I to provide high-quality patient care in our CLC ICU (Nights) department. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting our nursing team and ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide basic technical assistance and supportive patient care to meet the needs of individual patients throughout assigned areas.
  • Assist with vital signs, medication administration, and other patient care activities as directed by nursing staff.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care coordination.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a recognized Nurse Assistant program, Medical Assistant program, Medical Corpsman program, EMT program, or UTMB Hospital Aide Training Program.
  • Two years of experience in a direct patient care environment or certification as a MA, PCT, or CNA at time of hire.
  • Enrollment in a recognized School of Nursing and completion of the first semester of education, which contains clinical concepts and health assessment or the equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • BLS certification.
