Key Responsibilities- Operational Oversight: Assess sites and departmental functions to monitor effectiveness and make recommendations regarding curtailment, extension, modification or initiation of services.
- Program Development: Develop, plan, organize, coordinate, and direct the activities of the Native TANF program that address the needs of the communities served.
- Staff Supervision: Train, supervise, and evaluate all subordinate site staff.
- Collaboration and Coordination: Coordinate with regional program specialists to ensure continuity of programs and goals.
- Financial Management: Prepare, monitor, and administer site budgets, and reports as directed by the Regional Manager.
- Community Engagement: Promote Washoe Native TANF program through ongoing interaction and collaboration with other Tribal and community-based organizations.
- Case Management: Reviews cases with staff for eligibility and compliance.
- Reporting and Analysis: Prepares reports for the program as needed.
- Liaison and Outreach: Acts as a liaison with other agencies for referrals.
- Policy Development: Assists in the development of program policy and procedures, training, and program implementation.
- Outreach and Public Awareness: Plans and implements effective outreach in the development of case load and public awareness of Native TANF program services.
- Dispute Resolution: Assists in facilitating dispute resolution.
- Contract Development: Researches, outlines, and recommends proposals for contract development.
- Staffing and Recruitment: Interviews and recommends new hires.
- Communication and Teamwork: Hosts regular staff meetings to ensure communication among personnel regarding program-related activities.
- Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration or related field and three years supervisory work experience in the field of Social Services; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county, and local laws, regulations, and requirements. Knowledge of administrative and project management. Knowledge of records management procedures. Knowledge of the development, preparation, and control of budgets. Knowledge of managerial and statistical analysis techniques and reporting procedures. Ability to motivate others to participate in athletic and recreational activities. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds. Ability to work with people from diverse cultures, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to analyze situations and adopt appropriate courses of action. Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines. Ability to make solid decisions and exercise independent judgment. Ability to prepare accurate, complete, and legible reports.
- Physical and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to stand; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Work is generally performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level.
- Hiring Preference: Hiring preference is provided to members of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California followed by members of other federally recognized tribes. Must pass and comply with the PL Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Protection Act.
