Key Responsibilities
  • Sort and receive specimens in the department, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Perform routine instrument maintenance on equipment, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Conduct laboratory tasks such as centrifuging specimens, printing labels, recording data, and storing and retrieving specimens.
  • Prepare reagents and media in the department, adhering to strict quality control standards.
  • Prepare specimens for testing, including building worklists, aliquoting specimens, and checking for clots and fibrin.
  • Perform QA/QC duties as assigned, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Resolve pending lists and locate missing samples, maintaining accurate records.
  • Decontaminate work areas, adhering to strict safety protocols.
  • Perform weekly radioactive wipe tests, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Maintain files for department records, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Change gas cylinders, ensuring a reliable supply of essential materials.
  • Follow all PPE requirements and safety regulations, prioritizing employee safety.
  • Operate laboratory computer systems and PCs, ensuring efficient data management.
  • Dispose of biohazardous material, adhering to strict protocols.
  • Complete training and competency checklists, ensuring ongoing professional development.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant training preferred.
  • Math and science courses preferred, demonstrating a strong foundation in laboratory principles.
  • Ability to establish work priorities and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to retain information once learned, ensuring accurate and reliable performance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, interacting with coworkers and customers with courtesy and respect.
