Job Summary

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeking a skilled Child Life Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Child Life Services department, you will provide direct patient care to children and families, utilizing developmentally appropriate therapeutic play and education to promote coping and adaptation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and implement child life interventions to meet the unique needs of each patient and family.
  • Develop and lead therapeutic programming for assigned populations or units.
  • Orient, train, and supervise child life interns, practicum students, and volunteers.
  • Contribute to the organization by actively participating in process improvement initiatives and shared decision making.
Technical Capabilities
  • Facilitation of Positive Coping Strategies: Demonstrates mastery of facilitation of positive coping strategies in practical applications of a difficult nature.
  • Human Growth & Development: Demonstrates mastery of human growth and development in practical applications of a difficult nature.
  • Emotional Expression: Demonstrates mastery of emotional expression in practical applications of a difficult nature.
  • Therapeutic Play: Demonstrates mastery of therapeutic play in practical applications of a difficult nature.
