Pharmacy Technician Job Description

Empath Health is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient processing and filling of pharmaceutical orders, while providing exceptional customer service to our patients and customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process and fill orders for pharmaceuticals, adhering to state and federal pharmacy laws.
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service to patients and customers.
  • Assist licensed pharmacists in the preparation of medications, as directed.
  • Complete accurate data entry of patient information, including billing and payer information.
  • Access and navigate clinical programs for informational purposes.
  • Utilize various software applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Prepare medications for dispensing, including non-sterile compounds and unit dose medications.
  • Stock automated dispensing machines and generate reports for inventory management.
  • Generate various reports, including statistical pharmacy volume reports and inventory reports.
  • Track prescriptions needing signature for verbally agented Schedule II medications.
  • Triage incoming phone calls and route them appropriately.
  • Understand the pharmacy dispatch process and deliver medications when requested.
  • Comply with organizational policies and local, state, and federal regulations regarding technician scope and practice.
  • Order inventory as needed and manage physical and virtual inventory.
  • Perform various duties or projects assigned by pharmacists and/or Manager.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • Related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician with the Florida Department of Health, Board of Pharmacy.
  • Valid Florida State Driver's License.
  • Continuing education requirements as noted by the Florida Department of Health, Board of Pharmacy Division.
  • Certifications, such as CPhT from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), preferred.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Windows operating system, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to organize, multi-task, and prioritize daily work.
