Position Overview

Role Summary:
This role involves performing and instructing diagnostic procedures within the Nuclear Medicine field. The incumbent will administer radiopharmaceuticals, operate sophisticated equipment, and analyze the resulting data. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist operates under the direct guidance of the Nuclear Medicine Supervisor and collaborates closely with Nuclear Medicine physicians.

*This position is eligible for a $15,000 commitment incentive, distributed over a three-year work commitment.

Work Schedule: Wednesday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM and Saturday, 6:30 AM - 4:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:
1. **Administration & Documentation of Radiopharmaceuticals:** Confirm patient identity, verify date of birth, hospital number, and identification. Establish venous access and administer radiopharmaceuticals while accurately documenting the route of administration, dosage, and technologist's initials.
2. **Patient Interaction:** Explain the examination process to patients, obtain informed consent, and complete necessary documentation for study input, ensuring accurate patient information is recorded in the radiology management system.
3. **Patient Assessment:** Review requisitions, medical charts, and laboratory results. Conduct patient assessments and confirm that females of childbearing age are not pregnant, arranging for pregnancy testing as needed.
4. **Advanced Duties:** May perform specialized tasks related to Positron Emission Technology (PET) imaging and/or take on lead technologist responsibilities.
5. **Radiopharmaceutical Management:** Handle the receipt, documentation, and disposal of radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with guidelines from the Radiation Safety Office and NRC.
6. **Quality Control:** Ensure the correct selection, dosage, and quality control of radiopharmaceuticals, verifying that each administered dose is appropriate for the procedure and properly recorded.
7. **Image Acquisition and Analysis:** Set up and conduct imaging procedures per established protocols, ensuring patient comfort and safety. Analyze images for accuracy and process films for physician review.
8. **Documentation Systems:** Utilize RIS, CIS, SMS, and PACS for accurate documentation and charge generation. Coordinate transportation of inpatients to and from the Nuclear Medicine department.

Additional Information

Educational Requirements:
● Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Registered as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or registry eligible with a requirement to register within one year of hire. Must maintain registry status and fulfill continuing education requirements annually.
● Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● No prior experience necessary.
