Job Description

The Estimator will prepare comprehensive cost estimates for municipal civil construction projects, including concrete, pavement, sidewalks, driveways, asphalt repairs, and underground work. Key responsibilities include:

· Reviewing contracts, proposal specifications, and drawings to determine scope of work and required estimate contents.

· Requesting and analyzing pricing from subcontractors and material suppliers.

· Preparing estimates by performing takeoffs, developing construction approaches, and calculating projected costs.

· Assisting in developing and supporting proposal responses, including writing work plans and schedules.

· Reviewing and analyzing historical data from past projects.

· Presenting and participating in bid strategy meetings.

· Meeting proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates.

· Identifying and mitigating risks associated with projects.

· Facilitating estimate turnover to the project team.

Education and Work Experience:

· Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field.

· 3-5 years of estimating experience.

Skills and Abilities:

· Experience in estimating mid-scale to large projects and advanced knowledge of construction and utility practices.

· Knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control, and general profit/loss terms.

· Proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook.

· Ability to work in a team environment.

· Excellent communication, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.

· Must have the ability to prepare proposals with minimal supervision.

Work Condition:

· In-office position with occasional project visits.
