We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Family Services Specialist I to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a key member of our social services team, you will be responsible for providing support and guidance to clients in need, while working closely with other agencies and community partners to ensure the delivery of high-quality services.
Key Responsibilities- Interpret and apply laws, policies, and regulations related to social services;
- Monitor and coordinate programs to ensure effective service delivery;
- Interview and assess client needs, providing guidance and support as needed;
- Develop and implement service plans to meet client needs;
- Provide case management services to monitor client progress and ensure compliance;
- Manage program waiting lists and track expenditures;
- Prepare and submit budget estimates and ensure payment for services;
- Complete necessary planning and reporting requirements;
- Coordinate with other agencies and participate in multi-disciplinary teams;
- Conduct monitoring and evaluation of programs to ensure quality and effectiveness;
- Serve as a resource to clients and the community in area of expertise;
- Provide after-hours on-call coverage and respond to emergencies.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or a related field with a minimum of two years of experience in a Human Services area;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Knowledge of social work principles and practices, human behavior, and motivational theory;
- Ability to develop and implement service plans and make sound judgments within existing laws, policies, and regulations.
