POSITION SUMMARY:
The role involves delivering prevention education and skills to participants. Key responsibilities include engaging in outreach efforts, attending community gatherings, conducting public speaking engagements, facilitating educational groups, and providing individual and family sessions in accordance with program guidelines. The position also entails collaborating with youth and adults, serving as a resource for families and educational staff, recruiting and screening potential participants, ensuring timely and accurate documentation, and maintaining effective communication with Operation PAR staff and partner organizations.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Understanding of substance abuse, violence prevention strategies, and principles
- Familiarity with culturally competent approaches and techniques
- Capability to assess needs and make appropriate referrals
- Ability to engage positively and effectively with participants, colleagues, community members, and partner agencies
- Proficiency in timely and accurate documentation practices
- Skill in utilizing de-escalation techniques with diverse populations
- Competence in researching and developing prevention activities and educational curricula
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in another discipline along with a minimum of two years of relevant experience working with adolescents and families is acceptable. Experience in prevention and educational roles is preferred.
(Equivalent training, education, or experience may be considered to meet the minimum qualifications if regulatory requirements for the position are satisfied).
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
- Valid Florida driver's license (Class D may be necessary)
- Successful completion of background checks and fingerprinting as mandated by funding sources
