Job Title: Medical Lab Technician

Penn State Health is seeking a skilled Medical Lab Technician to join our team on a per diem basis. As a Medical Lab Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care by performing complex laboratory tests and analyzing results.

Job Summary:

Responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests, including blood, body fluids, cells, and tissues. Identify bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms, analyze chemical content of fluids, and cross-match blood for transfusion and organ transplantation. Prepare cells for use in cellular therapies.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare cells for use in cellular therapies.
  • Cross-match blood for transfusion and organ transplantation.
Requirements:

Associate's degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited program (NAACLS/ABHES) or Associate degree from a regionally or nationally accredited college/university with 6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 semesters of biology, and twelve (12) semester hours of courses in chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination. Medical Lab Technician Certification through ASCP, AMT, ACHI or an equivalent certification agency must be obtained within 18 months of employment.
