Job Summary

Penn State Health is seeking a skilled Medical Lab Technician to join our team on a per diem basis. As a Medical Lab Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality laboratory services to our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Perform complex laboratory tests on blood, body fluids, cells, and tissues to identify bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms.
  • Analyze chemical content of fluids and cross-match blood for transfusion and organ transplantation.
  • Prepare cells for use in cellular therapies.
  • Contribute to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited program (NAACLS/ABHES) or Associate degree from a regionally or nationally accredited college/university with 6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 semesters of biology, and twelve (12) semester hours of courses in chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination.
  • Medical Lab Technician Certification through ASCP, AMT, ACHI or an equivalent certification agency must be obtained within 18 months of employment.
  • Applicants trained outside of the United States must provide documentation of equivalency evaluation of their education and training to ensure it is equivalent to CLIA requirements.
