Job Summary:

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist position at Carle Health involves performing diagnostic studies and assisting with therapeutic administrations utilizing radiopharmaceuticals and imaging equipment in accordance with Carle policies and procedures and IEMA Department of Nuclear Safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic studies and radiopharmaceutical therapeutic administration by utilizing Nuc Med and/or PET/CT equipment by acquiring and processing patient exams in accordance with accreting bodies and/or manufacturer guidelines and as outlined in department protocols.
  • Reviews cases with the radiologist when appropriate. Reviews labs and patient history to perform correct exam.
  • Administers IV radiopharmaceuticals by means of existing IV line or by performing veni-puncture and placing IV line.
  • Responsible to review radiology orders for completeness and accuracy. Reviews patient history and supporting clinical data for medical necessity.
  • Transfers and verifies image data in PACS and provides necessary medical history and information for Radiologist interpretation.
  • Maintains imaging equipment and workplace environment including maintaining supply inventories and orderliness of work area.
  • Ensures patient, visitor and environmental safety.

Requirements:

  • College Diploma Related Field or Certificate Radiologic Technology
  • CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS: Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) Radiography License Illinois and Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) Nuclear Medicine certification or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Nuclear Medicine Technologist Registry and Basic Life Support (BLS).
