About the Role

BDO USA, LLP seeks a highly skilled Senior Manager to join our team. As a Senior Manager, you will play a key role in advising clients on tax implications, evaluating alternative actions to minimize tax burden, and identifying methods of complying with tax regulations.

Job Description

  • Tax Compliance: Ensure clients comply with applicable authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens. Conduct top-level review of tax returns, resolve tax issues with clients, and involve specialists when necessary.
  • Research: Identify research needs, frame issues clearly, and report analysis concisely. Train managers/staff on research skills and help frame ASC 740 tax issues for analysis.
  • ASC 740-10 (fka FAS 109 and FIN 48) Tax Accruals: Correctly apply Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual regarding ASC 740. Explain and discuss components of the income tax provision and uncertain tax positions to clients.
  • Tax Consulting: Assist in developing efficient methods to maximize client benefits, considering the applicability of CTS and STS consulting specialties. Ensure client service teams comply with Firm policy regarding Written Tax Advice.
  • Tax Specialization: Develop an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues in one or more areas of taxation. Organize and conduct internal CPE training sessions in area of specialization.
  • Strategy Development: Introduce and develop new ideas to improve the position of clients, the Firm, or Firm personnel. Present complex strategies to clients and prospective clients.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise associates and senior associates on all projects.
  • Review work prepared by associates and senior associates.
  • Train Associates and Seniors how to use current software tools.
  • Act as a Career Advisor to associates and senior associates.
  • Schedule and manage workload of associates and senior associates.
  • Provide verbal and written performance feedback to associates and senior associates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Taxation, required.
  • Masters degree in Accounting or Taxation, preferred.
  • Eight (8) or more years of prior experience, required.
  • Experience in managing the process of preparing and auditing ASC740 computations, required.
  • Prior supervisory experience, required.

Estimated Salary Range: $156,000 - $200,000 depending on location (California: $146,000 - $200,000, Colorado: $120,000 - $180,000, Maryland: $152,000 - $188,000, NYC/Long Island/Westchester: $175,000 - $205,000, Washington: $150,000 - $190,000, Washington DC: $156,000 - $200,000)
