This role involves providing support for customer projects and requires expertise in developing software solutions that enhance the design, verification, and validation of physics-based models applicable to various materials systems, including composites, coatings, and aerospace alloys.

Key Responsibilities:
- Create, enhance, and implement modeling and simulation tools to address materials science challenges related to processing and performance.
- Integrate software models into intricate multi-scale and multi-physics simulation frameworks.
- Assess software requirements and assist in troubleshooting processes.
- Collaborate effectively with fellow researchers focused on materials modeling and characterization.
- Document technical activities and findings in reports and publications, and participate in review meetings with stakeholders.
- Lead and contribute to future research and development initiatives through proposal writing and enhancing existing technical capabilities.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related STEM field (Master's or PhD preferred).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with physics-based modeling and simulation tools.
  • Strong foundation in materials science, physics, and/or engineering.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Fortran, Python, and/or C++ for model development.
  • Experience with modeling methods including finite element analysis, phase field, peridynamics, and computational fluid dynamics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in deploying physics-based models on high-performance computing clusters.
  • Background in a research and development setting.
  • Familiarity with compiled languages such as Fortran and/or C/C++, and knowledge of code compilation and development on Linux.
  • A record of peer-reviewed publications is advantageous.

Location: This position is primarily based at the CFD Research office.
