Job Overview:
As an Automotive Maintenance Assistant, you will work under general supervision to support the upkeep and servicing of university-owned vehicles. Your role will involve a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring the optimal performance and safety of our fleet.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operate tire machinery and conduct inspections on tires and related equipment.
2. Repair tires of various sizes, including those with split rims.
3. Monitor and maintain fluid levels, perform oil changes, replace filters, and grease units while checking for leaks.
4. Clean and maintain both the interior and exterior of vehicles, applying protective treatments as necessary.
5. Assist mechanics with routine engine repairs as required.
6. Ensure the auto shop is kept in a clean and safe condition.
7. Pick up parts from local suppliers as needed and provide roadside assistance for university vehicles on and off campus.
8. Participate in special task forces during emergencies, such as severe weather events.
9. Carry out additional job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a minimum of nine years of schooling with no prior experience required. The ability to read, write, perform basic arithmetic, and follow both oral and written instructions is essential. A valid Texas Driver's License is also required.
