The City of College Station's Fiscal Services department is dedicated to providing accurate and timely financial services to our community. As a Financial Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting our accounting operations and helping us achieve our mission.

Salary

The estimated salary for this position is $29,405 - $43,616 per year, based on a 40-hour workweek.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to support our accounting operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating activities related to accounts payable support, accounts receivable billing, payment processing, and performing various financial tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain financial reports, including cash reconciliation reports, to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement, making recommendations to management as needed.
  • Process and maintain vendor files, including setup, updates, and payments, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and distribute 1099s to vendors, ensuring timely submission to the IRS.
  • Collaborate with IT and other City departments to develop and implement financial system control procedures.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of treasury systems, ensuring accurate and timely financial information.
  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to inquiries and resolving issues promptly and professionally.

Qualifications

  • Required: Associate degree in Accounting, MIS, Computer Science, or a related field and three (3) years progressively responsible accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
