Clinical Nurse Specialist

Position Overview: The Electrophysiology (EP) lab nursing professional delivers expert nursing care to individuals experiencing various health conditions through comprehensive assessment, strategic planning, effective implementation, and thorough evaluation of nursing practices for patients undergoing electrophysiological interventions.
Work Environment:
The EP lab consists of two specialized areas: device and ablation, operating ten hours daily, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
The primary demographic includes patients ranging from adolescents to those at the end of life, specifically those with cardiac arrhythmias, syncope, heart failure, post-cardiac arrest, or those at risk of sudden cardiac events.
Common EP procedures encompass:
- Diagnostic Electrophysiology Studies
- Diagnostic Infusion Studies
- Structural Heart Procedures - LAAO Implantation
- Cardiac Ablation
- Cardioversion
Additionally, the role involves the implantation and follow-up care of cardiac rhythm management devices, including:
- Implantable Cardiac Defibrillators
- Pacemakers
- Leadless Pacemakers
- Cardiac Resynchronization Devices
- Implantable Loop Recorders
The coordination of care for EP and Ablation patients includes, but is not limited to:
- Pre-operative medication management and preparation instructions
- Case management and troubleshooting of EP-specific equipment
- Staffing and billing strategies
- Effective communication with other service areas and healthcare providers
Work Schedule:
The position requires a commitment of four days per week, which may consist of four 10-hour shifts, two 12-hour shifts combined with two 8-hour shifts, or a flexible combination thereof.
