We are seeking a highly qualified tenure-track professor to join our faculty in the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations at Harvard University. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and advising at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with a focus on Pre-1600 Japanese Literature and Culture.
Key Responsibilities- Teach classical Japanese (bungo) and Japanese literary Sinitic (kanbun) courses
- Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Japanese literature and culture
- Advise students on academic and professional matters
- Contribute to the department's research and academic programs
- Doctorate or terminal degree in Literature or a related field
- Demonstrated strong commitment to teaching and advising
- Ability to teach classical Japanese and Japanese literary Sinitic
- Experience in teaching and advising at the undergraduate and graduate levels
- Strong research record in Japanese literature and culture
- Ability to contribute to the department's research and academic programs
